The Golden Horseshoe is the longest running and toughest endurance horse riding event in Britain. The first Golden Horseshoe Ride (a 50 mile route) was organised on Exmoor in 1965, and after moving around the country several times, it settled in its now permanent home of Exford in the early 1970s.
It has since developed into its current format, offering something for everyone.

For the competitive riders there are four different classes - 50 miles in one day, 50 or 75 miles over two days, and the ultimate Golden Horseshoe Ride itself, of 100 miles over two days.
Locals and visitors can enter the Horseshoe Sponsored Pleasure Ride - (approximately 14 miles over moorland, forestry tracks and river crossings) and help to raise much needed funds for either the Moorland Mousie Trust or the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
For non-riders we have a variety of trade stands and demonstrations and displays including dog agility training.
The 2010 Golden Horseshoe will be held from 16 - 18 May
